Housing Dilemmas

· From the 2010–2013 blog

So we are getting very close to Steve's employer admitting he is leaving (It might finally happen tomorrow). which means we are getting very, very close to Steve spending 50% of his time in our "looks way worse in short shorts" part of the continent. which means that Mike had better damn well find a place soon (and thanks to everyone who has been helping - we appreciate it big time!). The current plan, is that for 2 week stints Steve will fly into Toronto, work with me day and night in our 3 bedroom downtown house/apartment/shoebox, and at night Mike will join us for the working. We will be downtown so we are close to Mikes work, and in Toronto so Steve can efficiently fly back and forth. We will continue like this for about 2 months, then Steve will pack-up life in SanFran and move in permanently (him staying is mostly a monetary decision in favor of runway). and sometime in that time period mike is going to do one of 2 things. 1st: realize he hates his job and would rather work on the new and exciting, or 2nd: he will realize he is too big a pussy to make the leap and apologize by paying our rent for the rest of the year. we are suffering a little bit from divided focus right now (things dragging on because the other guys only get a few hours a night), and im hoping being in the same space will help that. The only real problem in this is that mike, cant find a damn place. I'm not sure if hes being too picky, but I think he is limiting the search to a pretty small area and a pretty small price for the area (he works just south of king and spadina). im not sure what housing goes for in Toronto but the numbers i heard rhyme around $800 a person a month - which is a fuck ton load of money, but i guess its also Toronto. anyway, i guess if anyone knows of any cardboard boxes for sale on the corner of queen and spadina I might be looking to move in, in the near future! On the work front, I kicked some serious ass today - tons and tons got done. I'm gonna write a little bit up on my experiences with scribe and django-cms as I get deeper into those rings of hell. for the deadline tonight I still need to hack out a bunch of web stuff and do a few UI wireframes - its gonna be another busy one.
