Week One (Officialy)

We are now, officially, 1 week into this whole mess as a group. Things are going very well so far. We have almost every kick-ass tool that the world we are impressed by uses setup and in use. We are going to be ready to code in another few days. And both of my partners are working very hard including a very productive conference all last night. All is well in startup land! Big successes so far:

• The company is structured and everyone is on the same page
• We have focused on a single question/problem/idea
• We have a napkin revenue model and think we could have non-zero revenue
• We have a skeleton development platform and are aligned behind it
• We have an issue tracking tool and people have both created and closed issues

Important dates coming up:

• August 27th - My last day at Sandvine
• September 1st - Our first product demo
• September 2nd - My first unemployed loan payment
• October 1st - Earliest possible Toronto move-in date
• November 1st - Company incorporation & our first official blood money or angel investment

Major risks:

• Not securing blood or angel money by Jan. 1st
• Not securing angel or VC money by Aug. 1st 2011
• Too much competition in both the free and commercial spaces
• Unable to substantially differentiate our product & convince to dweebs in suspenders our product is worth switching for

On a personal note, today is my dear cousin Sara's wedding. I am not much of a marriage guy (my mother would add "yet"), but i totally get it - and I wish them the absolute best. many fingers crossed! and many congratulations!
